EVE attended the 5th International Summit on Power Battery Application

Oct 17,2020

On October 16, the 5th International Summit on Power Battery Applications (CBIS2020) and the 1st Summit on New Energy and New Materials was held in Ningde, Fujian. Dr. Liu Jincheng, chairman of EVE, was invited to attend the summit and delivered a speech with the theme of "EVE's Development Thoughts on Power Battery"

The Lixiang 2020 Celebration Ceremony was held at the same time. Dr. Liu Jincheng was awarded “Person of the Year 2020” and EVE was granted the "Trusted Product Award in 2020".

Dr. Liu Jincheng introduced that EVE has spent more than ten years building primary lithium batteries’ leading position in the world. EVE supports major national projects with composite power solutions including ETC solutions, provides 80% of the battery solutions in the network, thus realizing the mission of leading China's primary lithium batteries to the world's first-class level. This is the first business. And through technological progress, EVE's 18650 and 21700 batteries have entered the supply chain of major global customers in the power tool and two-wheeler market. The top 10 power tool brands in the world are our major customers. This is EVE’s basic business.

In addition, EVE also has a strategic synergy business, which is to make relatively good investments in the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain. EVE made full preparations with the operating capabilities of primary lithium batteries, combined with strategic coordination and financial capabilities, before entering the power battery market. After five years of hard work, EVE has completed the layout of all product technical solutions for power batteries.

"Our pouch NCM cell now has a production capacity of 9GWh and has achieved full production. We will have full production sales next year. They will be sold to Daimler and Hyundai, and also some domestic vehicles new forces." Dr. Liu Jincheng said, adding that the application of LFP cells in domestic commercial vehicles and energy storage is relatively mature. In addition, EVE has been awarded a designated letter from customers including BMW in terms of prismatic NCM cells.

As a latecomer in the field of power batteries, EVE has some thoughts on its development. First of all, safety and reliability should be a natural attribute of lithium batteries. "We believe that safety and reliability is the priority. It cannot be combined with technical indicators such as energy density and mileage to find a balance point, because this balance point is at high risk and only can do such a thing when safety and reliability is fully guaranteed." Dr. Liu said.

In addition to the development and business model of pure electric vehicles, the electrification of traditional vehicles is also of great significance, which can more effectively reduce emissions. On the evening of October 15th, EVE issued the "Announcement on Receipt of a Nomination Letter". The announcement stated that EVE participated in the battery system project of the German BMW Group and recently received the nomination letter. The name of the nominated project is "BK 48V".

"The auto makers tell us that such a system can reduce emissions by 15% on vehicles. If the ownership of 300 million vehicles is equipped with such a system and multiplied by 15%, the savings will be equal to 45 million vehicles, which is far more than the ownership of electric vehicles by 2030 (20 million)." Dr. Liu said, "The demand we receive is huge that we can see how much the automakers attach importance to the transformation."

Battery manufacturing technology has become an important bottleneck for the development of electric vehicles or electric vehicle batteries. "The consciousness has become the core content of battery manufacturing technology. For things like managing dust, I told our colleagues in the company that we must first remove the dust in our hearts, so that every detail can be controlled well. Good equipment is not enough," said Dr. Liu.

Dr. Liu also pointed out that the battery system integration capability is very important. EVE has started to do some very creative work in the BMS, so that the overall comprehensive capability is constantly improving.

Finally, the coordination of the industrial chain is the key to the success of an enterprise in this industry. Battery companies like EVE and CATL in the industry chain are very important for the definition and standards of future battery technology, and even the interfaces and standards with automakers.

Dr. Liu added that he actually wants to emphasize the coordination among material suppliers and component suppliers in the upstream and downstream. They must maintain a consistent quality system and ability to truly enable the industry's business activities to proceed effectively.

Return with honor

Lixiang 2020 Celebration Ceremony was held at the same time. With “primary lithium batteries selling well all over the world, continuous efforts in power and energy storage fields, and committed to providing first-class lithium battery in the world", EVE won the "Trusted Product Award in 2020".
